Desperately seeking help....

Post by Rabid »

Hi,

sorry to trouble you but I have a problem with the browser in R13.

I use soundfonts a lot, as NN-XT patches. I have my soundfonts categorized and stored in individual folders on my external drive.
I have added my soundfonts folder to the 'Favourites' section in the browser.

When I browse for another NN-XT patch it only looks for .sxt patches and totally ignores anything to do with .sf2.
If I try to access the soundfont folder in the 'Favourites' section, it doesn't even show the folders inside the soundfonts folder (9 categories, 1000 soundfonts).
Presumably, because it's looking for NN-XT patches.

I can't fathom out why it's not looking for .sf2 files too, seeing as they're totally compatible.
Is there a way to force the browser to change this behaviour and search for .sf2 files, too ?

I'll be honest.......I'm not familiar with the browser at all. Probably, I'm overlooking something really basic but this is doing my nut in.

Sure would appreciate any help and advice on offer,

Thanks in advance, have a good day,

Rabid :salute:

Hi, you should expand the NNXT by pressing the arrow - it then expands it to a full view.
As you can see there's another Loader too, use the another Loader when you want to load wavs, aiffs, soundfonts etc.

Hi, thanks for the reply...

Nah, that doesn't work either as the NN-XT is looking for sample files (.wav, .aif, etc) and ignores .sf2 files.

I've found a workaround.......which involves browsing to my external drive and manually opening 14 individual folders.

Sort of shows up the browser for the space/time-wasting piece of garbage that it is.

Thanks for your help, appreciated.

I think it used to work and if I remember right than RS has screwed something up and that's why it's not currently working. For this specific problem I'd directly contact them. I have used soundfonts something like 15 years ago just fine in the NNXT.

Hi again! I just tested NNXT and tried to load sf2 into the sampler.
I recorded a video and as you can see it worked for me:

Hi again......

er, no....all you've done is load a sample ( a .WAV file) from the soundfont into the NN-XT.

You haven't loaded the ENTIRE (.sf2) soundfont, along with the other 255 samples that it contains, whether it's a full drum kit or a Fender Jazz Bass (for example).

Thanks for your help, again,

Would you have any contact details for the Propellerheads team ?

They don't seem to be too accessible.

Thanks, guy,

Hi, as far as I'm aware, you can load any amount of sf2 into the same sampler, but after you load them you need to work on the sample zone-scales manually. And in the video these were sf2's not wav. I think what you meant was that you want the whole kit loaded into NNXT like the Redrum patches do. It can be done like that only if some other Reason user has loaded them and mapped and then saved the patch and then shared with you.

As you can see on the pic (rounded with the red) these were sf2's.
The sf2 is an old audio format like wavs and aiff today.

PS. Redrum loads sf2's too.
