Accidental success for Soundclick's 25th anniversary

Post by DollarBill »

I entered this thing as a place filler since they needed more warm bodies, and was hoping to come in just one up from dead last. Made a silly entry and did NOT take it seriously, so naturally it came in 1st of 18. It was related to the site's 25th anniversary, so the songs had to mention soundclick and maybe something about the anniversary and therefore have at least a little vocal/lyric effort. Anyway, even got a nice little (virtual) prize out of it, so yay!

The station with all 18 entries (and possibly one "ad" songs that don't belong and will need to be skipped)

My tune if you just want to skip right to it and laugh at the sonic silliness. Sort of a watered-down DEVO thing with a middle that really doesn't belong.

Hey, congrats! Just listened - a cool little electronic tune. I didn't know there was a contest like this, where did you get to know about it?

Thanks!

Some of the people who were involved in Larry's old showcases got together with others who felt the showcases were "too competitive" and made what they call the "Clicker's Club". They have events, they used to be monthly, then quarterly, now whenever, where you could share songs with some sort of structure - sometimes a themed thing like this one where it had to be about the site, sometimes just any new song, and then on the Saturday it opened there would be some online chatter as everyone listened to the station.

Yeah, I also took apart from the Larry's monthly events, when he still had his site. I haven't been taking apart from nothing for years. Kinda miss those times. :tears:

Well that is no surprise. Peoples best work is often the one they put the least amount of effort into. My two favorite songs from Little Feat are both after thoughts added to the albums as filler.

I too took part is Larry's SC contests occasionally. Never got very far in them.

Larry's SC contests were very fun, the good'old days, such good memories of what was. I do miss those times sadly.
