Some fun with low pass filters

I know, it's been a while. trying to re-join the world after a few months inactivity.

So here's some sci-fi noise. 3 low pass filters (and a 4th in some oddball mode I can't remember) with the resonance sent high and various types of voltage transients sent into the audio inputs to "ping" them. No oscillators or "synth voices" involved, just filters , delays, and various types of modulations to make it move.

Anyway, nice undersea kind of bubbles in the song. It seems you have lots of fun creating all these sounds - cool! And all the blobs and blibs are cool in this track. Nice sounding ish!

Oh, and last night I ordered ANOTHER filter, but this one is truly dirty nasty, nothing clean about it so it should be fun.

Heh, glad I could confuse the dog. Haven't given up on guitar stuff, just been working for quite a while on a Relative Rabbit thing, and been extra tired which makes it tough. Here's proof from a few days ago - I did bass, guitars, and only one weird synth noise on it.

Used every one I had (at least until the next one gets here Friday) - Qpas by Make Noise, Lola Filter by NoiseReap (tiny garage-shop in Portland, OR), the one in the Moog Mother-32, and on the digital side, one of the dual-filter algorithms in the Disting Mk4, but I can't remember what one now.

I like those weird almost jazz chords that appear from about 0:56 or so. The ending section is cool too. How much prep goes into these jams? Is there any planning or is it just random mucking about? Just curious cos it didn't really descend into noise and chaos (apart from that little bit about 3:50-odd where it did descend into noise and chaos, obviously. ) It all felt quite structured and focussed, I guess is what I'm trying to say. Fun stuff.

Does the sound design drive the song or the other way around?

Sorry for the slow response, was working on a new one. Lot's of happy accidents and just trying to figure out how to get it to do things that would be dad simple in my DAW with piano roll. Sometimes I want just noise, but I was trained on a lot of early classical music, so I tend to try to make harmonically sensible. Sometimes they come together quick, but usually I'll fart around for a few hours, have a happy accident, and then come back the next day and refine it, go to far, then bring it back and record it before pulling all the wires and starting again from scratch.

"Design" is a strong word.

Usually I have an idea of a type of thing I want to try, or I'm just trying to figure out how to use a new module (or a function I forgot about on an older one) but half the time the plan goes out the window. It's sort of like putting together a puzzle with no picture on the box, no right answer, and it comes out different every time. The sane users of the format who play live with small rigs have one thing they do and do well so they don't have to change their patching very much, but I'd rather do something new every time, even if it means never getting really good at it.

Kinda like how I play guitar. Random. Fun but it does not lend itself well to established music, i.e. music people will listen too.
