Back from Holiday - New ditty.

Hi everybody, I'm back from my holiday away and I am back in the office this week.
It's so depressing coming back to my empty apartment, I think so.

So with that said I made this short ditty, just as something to keep my mind away from negative stuff and to pass the time.
The song is called 'Hellborn'.
I made the cover artwork too for it hehe.

The working title session I have open in my DAW from last week is titled “ 90 secs of my life out of context” ..... though I might make it a series. Just a weekly upload of 90 sec clips.

I like to get straight in and out with a song and not bore people with something that is too long or has boring stuff in it, that's how I see it anyway. I don't like to waste peoples time. I know I could have ended that song better but really it was just a small inspired ditty I made to take my mind off negative things in my life at the moment.

I guess though, I make music primarily for me and if people like it that's great too but yes that's just me I guess.

The artwork was just a 30 minute sketch-up, I was too lazy to do any more details on it hehe. It's mostly going to be used for small
resolutions anyway such as Spotify and the like.
Also thanks, I have had 10 years practice with help from pitch sliders to make my voice sound dark like that haha. A long work in progress, I think so.

That organ sound at the beginning stands out! Is that an organ with distortion or are you pairing it with something else? Do you write the drum parts out, or are you using a drummer program?

Yes it's my Korg M1 synth effect VST - it's paired with another synth but I lowered the level of the church part quite a bit because it even stood out even more when at full volume. Thanks hope this helps - I've been using EZ Drummer too with a Metal expansion pack. I should get more expansion packs but EZ Drummer is expensive.

Logic's Drummer is not geared to metal at all. They have a "hard rock" drummer, but it does not come close. It's pretty amazing though and highly compatible to what you want it to do.

I joined an Ambient music forum and had someone tell me, my tracks were not Ambient enough because they had too many rhythmic parts. I started this track pissed off about that and deliberately designed it to be rhythmic through the whole song. Logic also has a separate Drum synth and I used that to come up with the percussion parts and then deliberately panned them to the outside of the bass and synths because fuck people who think you have to do this stuff with rules.

The band I used to play in, started as a drum circle with people playing with ethnic drums and percussion. They were called Rhythm Culture before I joined. They added a bassist and guitarist and morphed into something completely different over time, but still did drum/percussion performances when I started playing with them. I would play a simple wood block during those pieces. That is where I started with the percussive parts of this song. Then I took a pad, and used a plug in, to make a phased rhythmic break in the first part. Simple bass and then later a trombone from Logics studio horn synth, with a simple riff, and then added a delay. Plus a pad with a wah effect at the end.

I am planning to hook up the interface and break out the guitar tomorrow. Maybe I'll try a heavy metal song. I like your guitar work. I dont listen to heavy metal much at all other than classic stuff once in a while, but my son turned me on to Tool about ten years ago and I have been a fan of their work. They released their catalogue on iTunes finally and I have 10000 Days and Lateralus on my phone these days. I was listening to Lateralus yesterday on the drive home. One of the things I love about them is how insanely good their drummer is.

yes that is true re-drummer. Tool stinkfist and Schism resonates with me and many other songs for that mater.
