Gear

Post by Ashley »

I took this photo of some of my music gear that I use on my albums.

Alexi-Laiho signature ESP-LTD 6-string white flying V (My only guitar, and the one that I use on all my albums)
Shure sm57 (Used for vocal recordings)
Sennheiser Headphones
Korg interface controller keyboard
Cort Longhorn, 5-string bass guitar

This was photographed in my modern high-rise apartment looking out my bedroom window. (My gear lives in in my bedroom when it's not being used.

Well shit. I had this wonderful reponse to all you asshats. But lost it because Dolly jammed up the works with his gear. :headbang:

Ashley, The photo was taken with my phone in low light and no correction for the tungsten light. I corrected it in photoshop but left things blurry so you fucks could not read the screens and "Blind Faith" label of the tape.

Had I known this was to be an expressionistic modern art contest I would have posted a diagonal photo of Bitches ass and called it "A Dogs Wet Dream".

Yes Hekki, that is a Pioneer RT-707 7" reel to reel deck. I have 5 decks, 3 are safe to plug into the wall. Two are 10" studio decks. I gave another nice deck to my son on the condition he has it refurbished. I intend to have 4 of my 5 decks refurbished at a place outside of Tampa Bay some 4 hours south of here...once the pandemic eases up and I can find a driver.

Tape is the ultimate....if using a dbx 1 noise reduction unit, the thing above the tape deck. Problem is finding the music. Much of the music of the past is hard to find. When you do find it, it is expensive. Ass Pirates. Beatles, Stones, and the like can run upwards of $500 USD. Try finding Pink Floyd for a reasonable price. A copy of "Atom Heart Mother" can run over $1000. I've never even heard that album.

Then there are the Russians, the true Ass Pirates. They will take a recording from digital... or any other source... and put it on a 10" reel recorded as a two track high speed (15 inches per second) on any tape (usually a bad sticky shed tape). They go so far to copy the artwork and labels to a new tape box then call it a "Studio Master". Yeah, right. How did some Russian POS get a studio master of "Wish You Were Here"? First, Studio masters do not have artwork on the tape boxes. Second, retail version of this music was never sold on 10" tape regardless of channel configuration and tape speed. Thanks for supporting the Ass Pirates ebay.
