I actually used samples mostly on this. Logic has this library of an ungodly amount of royalty free samples available. Normally I sample the drum tracks and write everything else either in the piano roll or the step sequencer. There is also Apple Loops, which I have not gotten into yet. It's quite the DAW.

Fuck it "fake it to make it" if it sounds good then go with it, I made a tune for a guy for bag jumps uk, I used samples but created a great track, heres the money shot I got a poem for the samples and the guy spoke them out, used that too, here it is......lots of hits its all done in ableton, progress my friend
