I've got mixed feelings about the bassline on this - kind of like it but it seems like its a bit too much, too repetitive. Could maybe benefit from thinning it out a little, so instead of a continuous 4 bar loop, maybe stretch it to 8 bars, with the first two bars repeating 3 times, and the stepped bit being the 7th and 8th bars if you see what I mean...? I think that'd introduce a little tension and ease the repetitiveness. I don't know if you're trying for ambient here, but it seems to me that there's too much going on over too short a space of time. I know I'm one to lecture on this cos I can't do sparse or minimalist arrangements to save my life, but that seems to be the general rule for ambient as I understand it. At any rate, I dig the piano in the second part.
