Essentially, yes. Property is either public or private. There is no real middle ground there. The alleged "centre" is objectively a means of preserving private property by softening some of its worst features (for example, by providing unemployment benefits) and preventing it from collapsing under the weight of the inequalities it generates. What it doesn't (and perhaps can't) do is address the root causes of those problems, because they're inherent to capitalism and private property. At best, social democracy is about amelioration of symptoms rather than effecting a cure. Certainly I can't think of any examples off the top of my head where a society has actually started progressing towards socialism from social democracy, if only because the CIA has a habit of destabilising and overthrowing those sorts of Left-leaning governments. By contrast the slide Rightwards from "the centre" is well-marked and painfully familiar.

Gotta agree with you on that. Up until 4 years ago I paid little attention to the news. When I wanted to start I found that there are no more news programs, only opinions based on fact. No news. It was difficult to find media that did not play to its audience fears and prejudges, and just report the facts. Still is. Now they only want to promote books written by their "experts"...or some pod cast.
